I Support Clemency for Lance Shockley.
Governor Kehoe, I implore you to grant clemency to Lance Shockley. His conviction and death sentence are marred by serious and troubling issues that undermine confidence in the outcome.
There was no physical evidence linking Mr. Shockley to the crime, and witnesses were pressured by law enforcement to alter their statements.
The forensic and ballistic evidence used at trial has been widely discredited as unreliable, bordering on junk science.
Compounding these concerns, Mr. Shockley received inadequate legal representation, and juror misconduct has been clearly documented.
Most alarmingly, despite a jury deadlocked on the question of sentencing, the judge imposed the death penalty rather than life without parole—raising grave concerns about the fairness and legitimacy of the sentence itself.
These factors collectively leave more than reasonable doubt and call for clemency in the name of justice.
